See what's coming to WhatsApp next year…Apple won't be happy
23.12.2015 23:00
If texting and calling your friends on WhatsApp wasn't enough, it seems you could soon be able to see them on the popular app.

A leaked screenshot, obtained by German Apple blog Macerkopf.de., claims to show WhatsApp video calls are on there way.

If this rumour is true, WhatsApp will go head-to-head against Skype and Apple's FaceTime service.

The screenshots appear to show a video feed from the caller on a full screen, with your own video overlaid in a small preview window that you’ll be able to move around and reposition on the screen.

Similar to FaceTime, it's also thought that you'll be able switch the camera views on the chats to show your face or what's going on around you.

Calls will be able to be made over WiFi and 4G data whilst users are out and about.

The screenshots are reported to have been taken from WhatsApp’s latest version (2.12.16.2) which has yet to be released.

This latest rumour comes as WhatsApp fans have just been treated to an update, which is available now for Android owners.

This brings new features to the popular messaging service including the ability to 'star' messages.

Also new in this version of WhatsApp is the option to send or receive web links with a rich preview.

This will generate a preview of the link or video within the message – it's not a killer feature but does improve the look of the app.

Finally, if your phone is running Android Marshmallow you can now Direct Share in WhatsApp.
