SOCAR says it can fully provide Georgia’s need for gas
05.01.2016 17:00
Azerbaijan’s state energy company SOCAR said it can provide more natural gas to Georgia if the country’s demand for the fuel grows.

Mahir Mammadov, head of SOCAR’s Georgia unit, said: "Georgia’s demand for natural gas grows by 8 percent to 10 percent a year. If the country runs short of commercial gas, Azerbaijan can provide additional volumes.”

Georgia is in talks with Iran and Russia to buy additional volumes of natural gas.

Azerbaijan currently provides nearly 90 percent of Georgia’s need for gas.
