Russia violated territorial integrity of Georgia, Ukraine, Syria; Azerbaijan can be next

"The new concept of Russia's policy is the continuation of expansionism and aggression. What started in Abkhazia continues in Crimea now. There are three countries whose territorial integrity has been violated by the Russian Federation. These are Georgia, Ukraine and Syria," he said.

The territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is now under threat over Armenia, which enjoys support from the Russian Federation, he added.

Davutoglu said he shared the opinion that the way Russia has been behaving in Syria now is due to the fact that it has not received a proper response for its action in Ukraine.

"Russia is trying to use every moment when the international community has failed to respond," he said.

In his words, Russia is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people in Ukraine and Syria and for forcing millions of people from these countries to leave their homes. According to him, by further shelling and bombing civilians, Russia makes Syrians emigrate to the EU via Turkey, which has already given shelter to more than 2.5 million refugees.

"The period of the Soviet Union ended 25 years ago. Attempts to go back to that era will do no good to anyone," Davutoglu said.

The Turkish premier called on Russia to respect the territorial integrity and the peoples of Syria and Ukraine under international law and stop using ballistic missiles and vacuum bombs.
