President Aliyev due in Tehran for official visit

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will visit Iran on Tuesday, according to Iranian Telecommunications Minister Mahmoud Vaezi.
The visit will take place on the invitation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. The sides are expected to sign 11 cooperation agreements during the visit.
This is Aliyev’s second visit to Iran after the presidency of Rouhani. He traveled to Tehran in spring 2014 and also held a meeting with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
In the Iranian month of Esfand (Feb. 20 - March 19) Rouhani will also host the presidents of South Africa and Switzerland.
In January, Rouhani and his Azeri counterpart in a telephone conversation discussed bilateral ties and regional developments, according to Fars.
During the phone talks, the Iranian president said that the removal of sanctions imposed against Iran will pave the way for the expansion of Tehran-Baku relations.
Rouhani reiterated that Tehran is ready to broaden its ties with Baku. "There is no obstacle in the way of the expansion of economic, commercial and cultural relations between the two countries.”
Aliyev said that all of Iran’s friends in the region and around the world are pleased that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has taken effect.
He underlined the religious and historical affinities between the two neighbors, and called for the development of ties with the Islamic Republic in all areas.
The Azeri president also expressed hope that his future visit to Tehran would set the stage broadening cooperation between the two sides.
