Iran, Azerbaijan extradite 11 prisoners

Following an agreement between Iran and Azerbaijan, the two countries on Saturday extradited 11 prisoners to serve their prison terms in their home countries.

Azerbaijan delivered five Iranian prisoners to Iranian officials at Astara border point and six Azeri prisoners were handed over to Azerbaijani officials in return.

Earlier this month, Azeri officials had delivered 21 Iranian prisoners to serve their prison sentences in Iran. The extradition of prisoners is being made following the expansion of political relations between the two countries over the past few months. Some 130 Iranian prisoners are being held in Azeri jails at present.
