Azerbaijan's GDP shrank by 3.5% in the first quarter of 2016

  In January-March 2016, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) made AZN 12.0 bln, down 3.5% from previous year.

According to State Statistical Committee the decline is caused by decrease in production of construction and transport products and services compared to previous year.
 
39% of the value added was formed in industry, 13.3% in trade, repair of transport vehicles, 8.4% in construction, 6.7% in transport and storehouse, 3.5% in tourist accommodation and catering services, 2.8% in industry, forestry and fishery, 2% in information and communication, and 16% in other spheres.
 
New taxes to product and import made 8.3% of GDP.
