Singer Jamala returns to Kyiv after Eurovision victory

Ukrainian singer Jamala has been given a rapturous welcome home after her surprise weekend victory in Stockholm at this year’s Eurovision Song contest.
There was great excitement among the dozens of journalists who had waited for hours to greet the singer at the airport. There were also hundreds of her fans and supporters at the arrivals gate hoping to congratulate her.
 
The country scored 534 points with its song 1944, about Stalin, Crimea and claims of ethnic cleansing. 
 
Australia finished second with 511 points, while Russia - which was the favourite going into the competition - was third with 491 points.
 
Semra Rehimli, who represented Azerbaijan with her song Miracle finished in 14th place with 117 points
