Azeri president, US vice-president discuss Karabakh solution
The president of Azerbaijan and the US vice president have discussed ways of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh (Nagornyy Karabakh) conflict, Turan news agency said.
"On 20 May, issues of the Karabakh settlement were discussed in a telephone conversation between US Vice President Joe Biden and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev," the news agency said.
The meeting discussed the dynamics of the successful development of the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the USA. "They simultaneously highlighted the importance of the recent Vienna meeting at the initiative of the United States of America for the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," the press service of the Azerbaijani president said.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of a speedy resolution of the conflict in accordance with the norms and principles of international law, the reported added.
