The court made a sentence against Javid Huseynov

The Sabayil District Court presided over by a judge Elmar Rahimov concluded the criminal case against football player Javid Huseynov on May 31,2016.

ANN.az reports that the court sentenced Javid Huseynov to four years in prison.

The prosecutor requested four years imprisonment for J.Huseynov. Javid Huseynov and his attorney did not agree with accusations and asked the court to acquit Javid Huseynov.

Javid Huseynov is charged over the death of journalist Rasim Aliyev.

Rasim Aliyev, the reporter of ANN.az was beaten in the Sabayil district of Baku on August 8, 2015.The next day he passed away at the hospital from suffered injuries.

During the investigation, the materials of the criminal case regarding the football player Javid Huseynov were filed in a separate lawsuit under article 307.1 (not informing about known, prepared or committed heinous crimes) and article 307.2 (not promised covering up of a heinous crime) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.

On April 22 the criminal case started by Baku City Prosecutor's Office was completed. In accordance with the court's judgement, E.Ismayilov has been sentenced for 13 years, A.Aliyev for 12 years 6 months, J.Mammadov 11 years, S.Mustafayev and K.Madatov for 9 years.

The football club Gabala issued a statement due to reporter Rasim Aliyev’s death. "Mentioning the name of a football player Javid Huseynov in connection with this incident has caused deep regret. Despite the fact that Javid Huseynov is a very important player for the team Gabala, he was removed from the core team until the situation is clear" said in a statement.
