Iran, Azerbaijan announce visa waver
Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev has announced waving of the visa regime between his country and Iran as part of the "north-south corridor", Entekhab news website reported on 7 August.
According to Entekhab, speaking at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani in Baku, Aliyev stressed his country's interest in completing the north-south railway connecting Iran and Russia via Azerbaijan. He added: "From now on, Iranian and Azeri citizens will travel to the two countries without visa."
Rouhani arrived in Baku on 7 August for a series of bilateral and trilateral meetings with Aliyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Aliyev also said that the two countries "do not have disagreement of opinions", and stressed: "We have taken crucial steps in promoting the two countries' interactions".
He also stressed that the "attack by Armenia" should be discussed at the meeting.
