Putin to discuss North-South corridor, oil-and-gas fields development in Caspian with Iranian, Azerbaijani counterparts in Baku - Ushakov

Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss the North-South transport corridor and oil-and-gas fields development projects in the Caspian region with his Iranian and Azerbaijani counterparts in Baku, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters.


"We believe it is crucial to discuss the prospects of more close cooperation in the transport infrastructure sector. ... The issue in question is the plans of creation of the western line of the North-South international transport railway corridor," he said.


"Naturally, we place a significant emphasis on cooperation in the energy sector, and, in particular, implementation of the projects in exploration and development of oil-and-gas fields, first and foremost, in the Caspian region," he said.


The Russian side is ready to discuss the issues of cooperation in other sectors as well, he said.
