This is Mercedes-Maybach’s new concept

This is Mercedes-Maybach’s new concept

This is a brand new concept from Mercedes-Maybach. It has no name. It is very big. And it already looks quite magnificent.

Just a year after Mercedes revived the brand with the Mercedes-Maybach S600L (a posher S-Class saloon) comes this sloping, two-door concept coupe ready, it seems, to take on the Rolls-Royce Wraith. Maybach of course, has form in this kind of car with the one-off Exelero concept from over a decade ago.

We have precious little information at this very early stage, other than to say it’s nearly six metres long (as long as an extended wheelbase RR Phantom), and will enjoy a worldwide premiere at Pebble Beach next week.

What we can speculate on though, is the level of sheer opulence and luxury contained with the Maybach coupe’s vast flanks. If the S600L is anything to go by, this thing will be ludicrously comfortable, quiet and packing space-age technology and connectivity.

It’ll no doubt be quite heavy (the S600L weighs in at 2,335kg), but could feature that car’s same 6.0-litre, bi-turbo 523bhp V12 – more than enough to whisk you to 62mph in around five seconds. Perhaps, considering the concept’s sportier roofline, even faster.

That’s about yer lot. Stay tuned for more…
