Electricity output decreases in Azerbaijan

Power plants of the Azerenergy JSC, Azerbaijan’s main electricity producer, generated 16.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January-September 2016 as compared to 16.8 billion kilowatt hours generated in the same period of 2015, said Azerenergy in a message Oct. 6.

The message said also that Azerenergy’s power plants produced about 1.7 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in September 2016.

In 2015, Azerenergy produced more than 22.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity as compared to about 22.7 billion kilowatt hours generated in 2014.

Meanwhile, generation capacity of Azerbaijan's power system grew by 30 percent over the past five years.
