Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev will not take part in discussions on oil production limits with representatives from OPEC countries in Istanbul, a ministry representative told Interfax.

"OPEC Secretary General Mohammed Barkindo said in his invitation to Aliyev that an informal meeting of the energy ministers of Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Gabon, the UAE, Venezuela and Russia would take place on October 12 in order to hold consultations on the issue of oil production cuts," the ministry representative said.

Aliyev initially planned to attend the meeting. "However, because this meeting is informational in nature and no specific decisions are planned for approval at it, there is no need for the Azerbaijani energy minister to take part," the representative said.
