Aliyev, Russian interior minister discuss security cooperation between Baku, Moscow, Tehran
Cooperation in the Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia format seeks to tighten security in the region, President Ilham Aliyev said, receiving Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev in Baku on Tuesday.
"The president valued highly the importance of the first Baku summit between the presidents of Azerbaijan,Iran and Russia [in August 2016]. In his view, this trilateral format has already been formed, and cooperation is aimed at building up security measures in the region," the Azerbaijani presidential website said.
Aliyev said that relations between Azerbaijan and Russia have been successfully developing in different spheres, including between interior ministries.
In turn, Kolokoltsev said that the Baku Declaration signed by the presidents of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia would impart an additional impetus to the development of relations and joint activity of the three countries.
