UK’s Atkins to open office in Baku
08.12.2016 16:31
The British company Atkins, one of the world’s largest design, engineering and project management consultancies, is planning to open its office in Azerbaijan, British media outlets reported.

The company’s Baku office will primarily support the activities of the key oil and gas operators in the Caspian Sea and will also coordinate the company's operations in Turkey and Georgia, Trend reports.

Azerbaijan is trying to reduce the impact of oil and gas on the economy, as well as on energy consumption, said James Todd, who manages Atkins Baku team.

Atkins’ plan for the next 5-10 years is to use its experience in all parts of the energy sector, in the establishment of offshore wind farms as well, he added.

Atkins also plans to involve its experts in infrastructure, architecture and transit services in future, he said.

The company’s activities in Azerbaijan were earlier coordinated directly from the UK.

Opening the Baku office will offer prospects for the company not only in Azerbaijan, but also in Central Asia, according to Todd.
