Azerbaijan slightly cut food production in 2016

Azerbaijan's food production in 2016 totaled 32.3 billion manat, down 0.4% compared to 2015, Azerbaijan's state statistical committee told Interfax.


According to the state committee, production in the non-oil sector grew 5% in 2016, while production in the oil sector declined 1.1%.


The mining industry totaled 65.4% of production in 2016, refining totaled 28.2%, electricity, gas and steam production and distribution 5.6% and water supply, purification and waste management 0.8%.


Within the processing industry, the production of electrical equipment grew 3.3-fold, the textile industry grew 2.7-fold and clothes grew 41%. There was a decline among production of leather, leather products and shoes of 67.9%, while machinery and equipment fell 14.9% and tobacco products fell 13.4%.


The production and distribution of electricity, gas and steam fell 0.5% while production in the water system, purification and waste management fell 0.7%.
