Azerbaijani CEC sets date for extraordinary presidential election
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan has made a decision to hold the extraordinary presidential election on April 11, 2018, APA reported.
Azerbaijan's President IlhamAliyevsigned an order on Feb. 5 announcing extraordinary presidential election in Azerbaijan.
According to the order, the extraordinary presidential election will be held on April 11, 2018.
The Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan has been instructed to ensure the conduct ofpresidential election in accordance with the country’s Electoral Code.
According to Article 179.2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, starting from the day of the announcement of extraordinary presidential election by the country’s president, the Central Election Commission shall scheduleelection for a Wednesday within a week and hold it within 60 days.
