Pashinyan disclosed details of conversation with Ilham Aliyev in Davos
During a live broadcast on Facebook, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan revealed some details of the conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Davos, Sputnik-Armenia reports. Nikol Pashinyan was responding to criticism that the Armenian public was not informed about the upcoming meeting.
'As is known, this is the third meeting with Ilham Aliyev. In recent months, we have had discussions with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs that when an event is held with our participation, meetings should not be avoided. These are informal meetings, they cannot be considered as the official start of negotiations,' Pashinyan said.
He said that the
organisers of the forum in Davos asked the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia - each separately - whether they would like to talk, to which Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan agreed.
'And the basis for the meeting was an agreement that if we are in one place, then at least we will not avoid it,' the Armenian PM added.
According to him, in Davos, and at all previous meetings, the history of the negotiation process, the possibility of creating conditions for settlement, existing obstacles, etc., were discussed. There was no specifics at the same time, details were not discussed, he stressed, adding that the public statements already made fully reveal the content of the conversation in Davos.
It should be noted that the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, touching upon the topic of contacts with the Armenian leadership in an interview with RIA Novosti, said that there had not yet been full-format talks, but several useful conversations had already taken place.
