Today is birthday of founder of first Republic of Azerbaijan

135 years have passed since the birth of one of the founders of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic - Mahammad Amin Rasulzadeh.

Rasulzadeh was born on January 31, 1884 in the Baku village of Novkhani.

In his youth, he, along with the Social Democrats, participated in the creation of the organisation Gummat. In 1909, fleeing from the persecution of the tsarist regime, he emigrated to Iran. For some time he worked in this country as the chief editor of the 'Iran-nou' newspaper, and after the suppression of the revolution he left for Turkey.

In 1911, he joined the Musavat Party and four years later became the chairman of the central committee of this party.

In 1918, Rasulzadeh together with Fatali Khan Khoysky announced the creation of the first in the East democratic republic - the ADR.

In 1920, after the Bolsheviks came to power, M.E. Rasulzadeh left Azerbaijan. Since 1932, the period of his activity in Europe begins.

During these years he publishes the newspaper İstiqlal and the magazine Qurtuluş in Germany. In Poland, he creates the Azerbaijan National Publishing House, where he publishes the book 'Azerbaijan in the struggle for independence' in Polish.
