OIC delegation holds monitoring in Shusha

The Azerbaijani Ombudsman and the delegation of the Ombudsman Association of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have monitored cases of vandalism against cultural and historical monuments in Shusha, the Ombudsman's Office told.

The primary purpose of the fact-finding mission of the delegation was to monitor cases of vandalism against social facilities, cultural and historical monuments in Shusha, one of the important centers of the historical, cultural, socio-political life of Azerbaijan.

Members of the delegation visiting the statues of great figures of Azerbaijani culture - Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Khurshidbanu Natavan and Bulbul, as well as the Upper and Lower Govhar Aga mosques, conducted monitoring in Shusha. They did an on-site investigation into the vandalism of cultural and historical monuments during Armenia's policy of aggression, occupation and terrorism against Azerbaijan for more than 30 years.

Later, Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva and President of the OIC Ombudsman Association Seref Malkoc made a statement to the press.

Based on the monitoring results in Shusha, a report will be prepared and sent to international organizations.

The guests will carry out a fact-finding mission in Shusha.


The delegation will visit cultural monuments, administrative and residential buildings in the city, which were savagely destroyed by Armenians.

The guests will carry out a fact-finding mission in Shusha.


The delegation will adopt a statement after conducting the fact-finding mission in the liberated territories.


The OIC and Pakistan Ombudsman delegations have arrived in Azerbaijan to conduct a fact-finding mission in the liberated territories. Several official meetings are expected to be held during the visit, which will last until September 19.
