President: If the people of Azerbaijan had not shown their wisdom in 1993, the fate of Azerbaijan could have been very dark

"If the people of Azerbaijan had not shown their wisdom in 1993, if they had not invited the Great Leader, the fate of Azerbaijan could have been very dark,” President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said, speaking to Jabrayil public representatives.
"Not only could we restore the lands we lost then, we could face even greater disasters. We could lose the statehood that was still emerging. That is a fact,” the head of state noted.
"Heydar Aliyev’s unparalleled services to the people of Azerbaijan have shown themselves here today. Because He laid the foundation - army building, reforms, oil contracts, the first inflow of revenues in our country. It was He who directed the first funds to improve the living conditions of the IDPs. At that time, we had no money; the treasury was empty. The first money came from the sale of oil, and he said that we would direct it there. I also went this way. When people trusted me in 2003, I said that I would follow in my father’s footsteps,” he said.
The President spoke of the huge work done for IDPs, saying 100 camps were built.

"But every time I met with former IDPs, I said - and they, of course, thanked me - that this was temporary. Remember, I said it was temporary and that we would build better houses after the lands were liberated. Today’s presentation is a confirmation of those words,” he said.
