Azerbaijani MP: Pashinyan's desire to meet Turkish leadership worries Iran

Azerbaijani lands were under occupation for about 30 years, and during this occupation, Armenia had difficulty in establishing diplomatic relations with other states, Azerbaijani MP Nagif Hamzayev said, Report informs.
Hamzayev noted that countries such as Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Djibouti avoided diplomatic relations with Armenia during the occupation.
"Nikol Pashinyan's statement that he wants to meet with the Turkish leadership worries Iran. Because it will reduce Iran's pressure on Armenia. However, Iran must not forget that Azerbaijan has never allowed its territory to be used against this country. Even when the United States and other Western countries put pressure on Iran, Baku did not turn its back on Iran. Today, we continue to show the same attitude towards Iran. From this point of view, it would be better for Iran to develop friendly relations with Azerbaijan than to help Armenia,” the Azerbaijani MP said.
"Our goal is to settle our compatriots in the liberated lands of Karabakh as soon as possible. Just as we united in the war, we will unite around the head of state and cope with it as well. Today, our compatriots living abroad and in the country believe that President Ilham Aliyev will lead us to a brighter future. We hope that Azerbaijan will soon achieve all its desires,” Hamzayev concluded.

"Azerbaijan's contribution to Islamic solidarity played an important role here. But, besides establishing relations, Iran also provided humanitarian assistance to Armenia. Azerbaijan patiently expected Iran to take a sincere stance against its Muslim brothers. But we did not witness it. Now Iran's training on the Azerbaijani border raises certain questions. Because we had not seen any exercises on this border for 30 years. In fact, the purpose of this training is being investigated by experts,” he said.

Hamzayev added that the change of reality in the region under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Azerbaijani Army Ilham Aliyev will result in Armenia's recognition of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
