President: "We want to turn the page and establish ties with neighbor Armenia"

"Of course, I think now that one of the most important areas is the European Union's contribution to development, lasting peace, and cooperation in the postwar period, and we are ready for that. You may have heard my statements on this. I say what I mean, this is our policy," President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said while accepting the credentials of the newly appointed head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko on October 6.

"We want to turn the page and establish ties with our neighbor Armenia. We are ready to start negotiations on a peace agreement, delimitation, opening of communications. This process has begun partially. But I think that if the European Union is actively involved - I see such a desire - it can help us in many areas. In general, the situation in the South Caucasus can take on a completely new scale that has not existed for 30 years. It can be an essential factor of stability, predictability, and peace," the head of state said.
