Prime Minister: “Georgia is ready for NATO membership”

Georgia already has all practical tools to join NATO, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said at a briefing after meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels.

According to him, membership in the Alliance is a decisive issue for Georgia’s foreign and security policy.

Garibashvili noted that active dialogue is being held with allies to prepare political decisions on Georgia’s joining NATO.

In turn, Stoltenberg said that the Alliance will continue providing strong political and practical support to Georgia: "Georgia and Ukraine have the right to choose an ally. Russia does not have the right to influence the choice of these countries. NATO is ready to strengthen the naval defense capability and security.”
