White House says Trump would not hesitate to use U.S. military force against Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump would not hesitate to use the full strength of the American military against Iran, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in an interview with Fox News.

“President Trump has always said that diplomacy is the preferred option. That has always been the case and always will be. However, he would not hesitate to use lethal force and the power of the U.S. armed forces if he deems it necessary,” Leavitt said.

She added that Trump is considering all possible options regarding Iran, including air strikes, while stressing that diplomacy remains the administration’s preferred course of action.

Leavitt also said that Iran’s nuclear programme, which she described as Tehran’s strongest leverage just months ago, had been destroyed by the U.S. military.
