Severe Weather Alert in Azerbaijan: Torrential Rains, Snow, and Flash Flood Warnings Issued

Intermittent rainfall will sweep Baku and the Absheron Peninsula from the evening of November 5 through the evening of November 9, according to a severe weather alert from the National Hydrometeorological Service. Localized areas across the peninsula are expected to experience intensified downpours and lightning.
Instability across the provinces will commence on the afternoon of November 5, spreading from the northern and western regions. Forecasts call for localized torrential rain, lightning, hail, and high-altitude snowfall, with precipitation intensifying significantly on the evening of November 5 and overnight into November 6. Water levels in rivers will surge, carrying risks of brief flash floods and mudflows across river basins in the Greater Caucasus and the Lankaran-Astara zones. The unsettled system is projected to persist until the evening of November 9, driving ambient temperatures down by 5 to 10 degrees Celsius relative to preceding days.
