Successful epidemiological measures and crisis management in Azerbaijan to overcome the pandemic in 2021 have led to economic growth, said Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov.
According to the minister, the country's main goals and the dynamics of economic development stemmed from the events of 2020:
"Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the global economy was experiencing a crisis simultaneously. Our main aim for 2020 was to stop the country's economy from falling into a deep crisis, prevent a recession, preserve jobs and maintain the economy."
Jabbarov noted that in 2020, Azerbaijan launched a fairly comprehensive program to support the economy:
"Employee support programs have been implemented. Interest subsidies have been applied to small and medium-sized entrepreneurs with a loan portfolio of about 1 billion manats, and the volume of preferential loans guaranteed by the state has been increased."
