Azerbaijani minister talks about demining operations in liberated areas

Relevant forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are actively involved in demining operations in Azerbaijan's liberated lands, the Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel-General Kamaladdin Heydarov said in an article published by official media.

He said that after the glorious victory, following the president's instructions, the relevant structures of the ministry began activities in the liberated territories to ensure security, timely notification of possible emergencies and prompt elimination of their consequences: "It is worth noting that the operation swiftly launched by the relevant agencies of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in our liberated territories has played an important role in the effective management of emergencies. In this context, our relevant agencies are working intensively to ensure safety in construction, industrial and mining operations in the liberated territories."

Heydarov said that the launch of local structures also helped prevent emergencies, including open fires: "Thanks to the timely and correct planning of the work, effective and flexible application of forces and means, the fires were not allowed to spread over a large area, and were extinguished in a short time. Given the large number of mines buried by Armenia in those areas, it becomes clear how complicated and risky this work is. Due to the threat of landmines, helicopters were actively involved in firefighting in the open during the summer months."

"Starting from January this year, the relevant forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are actively involved in demining operations in our liberated lands. In order to accelerate this work, a special mechanized regiment was established in Barda, the location of the Ministry's Special Risk Rescue Service. At present, the regiment is being equipped with the latest equipment," he added.
