MP: President Ilham Aliyev has turned Azerbaijan into one of most prosperous economies

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is a unique personality. Fulfilling the behest of his great father, the founder of modern Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, he has turned the country into one of the most prosperous economies, Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

The deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation has congratulated the head of state on his 60th birthday and wished him many years of life, health and good luck.

Slutsky emphasized the role of President Ilham Aliyev in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict: "This bleeding conflict had to be resolved without passing it on to future generations. Ilham Aliyev could go further and destroy his opponents. However, given his peaceful attitude, he didn’t do it. He did exactly what he had to do. This is his merit and wisdom. His role is very great.”

Speaking about Azerbaijani-Russian relations, Slutsky called Baku the most reliable partner of Moscow:

"Azerbaijan is the most reliable partner of Russia in all spheres. Ilham Aliyev and Mehriban Aliyeva initiated and implemented a lot of significant projects. Ilham Aliyev has everything to confidently lead his people, his native country along the path of progressive but accelerated development. Our relations are getting stronger every year.”
