Germany soon to halve oil imports from Russia
25.03.2022 13:00
The German authorities intend to halve oil imports from Russia by mid-2022, reported from Der Spiegel.

Germany is rapidly reducing its energy dependence on Russia and broadening sources of energy supplies, reads a document signed by Vice-Chancellor, Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck.

Habeck explained that Germany has significantly reduced oil supplies from Russia in recent weeks.

Due to changes in contracts, dependence on Russian oil is expected to decrease to 25% in the foreseeable future, the federal minister said.

By mid-2022, Russian oil imports to Germany are likely to be halved, the document says. Germany is striving to become nearly independent by the end of the year.
