On May 16, the Foreign Ministers of the European Union member-states will discuss an embargo on Russian oil.
Reported from Interfax, that EU diplomat Josep Borrell expressed hope that the ministers would reach an agreement.
He said he was sure the agreement would be reached and stressed the need for this document, citing the need to wean the bloc off the dependence on Russian oil.
European Commission reported earlier that representatives of the EU countries continue to discuss proposals for the sixth package of sanctions against Russia.
Permanent representatives of the EU member states in May discuss proposals for the sixth package of sanctions against Russia, including an embargo on Russian oil. The media cite Hungary as the main obstacle to the approval of the sanctions, as the country refuses to back the proposals for sanctions in their current form. Budapest motivates its position with the desire to protect its economy.
Decisions on restrictive measures in the European Union are taken unanimously, with each country having a right to veto.
