Russian envoy: Operations in Ukraine won't affect Russia's presence in Syria

Russia's military operations in Ukraine will not affect the fight against terrorism and presence in Syria, and Moscow's support for Damascus will continue, Russian Special Presidential Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev told Russian reporters.
"Of course, this will not directly affect our actions regarding Syria. We came there (Syria) to help fight against terrorism and terrorist groups whose members came from the republics of the former Soviet Union, including the Russian Federation and the Caucasus regions," he stressed.
According to the Russian special envoy, Russia will continue to support the Syrian government despite military operations in Ukraine.
