Russia, Azerbaijan agree on increasing gas supplies

Russia, Azerbaijan agree on increasing gas supplies
26.12.2022 10:00
Russian Vice Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Russia agreed with Azerbaijan on increasing gas supplies for inner consumption of this country, reported from TASS.

"There is an agreement with Azerbaijan on increasing our supplies," he said.

According to Novak, once the gas extraction in Azerbaijan is increased, it will be possible to discuss swaps.

"In the future, when they increase gas extraction, we will be able to discuss swaps," the Russian vice prime minister said.

Gazprom started gas supplies to Azerbaijan under the new agreement on November 15 and is expected to supply up to 1 billion cubic meters of gas until March 2023. In 2021, Azerbaijan and Russia agreed on cooperation in the sphere of seasonal exchange of natural gas: the contract effective until 2023 envisages supply of gas from Azerbaijan to Russia in summer and the similar volumes of gas from Russia to Azerbaijan in winter.
