Exchange gas prices in Europe slightly above $880

Exchange prices for gas in Europe at the auction on December 28 slightly decreased and reached a level close to the settlement price of the previous trading day, reported from the London Stock Exchange ICE.

January futures on the TTF index (the largest hub in Europe, located in the Netherlands) opened trading in the red - at the level of $880.6 per 1,000 cubic meters (-0.1%). Then they fell to $870.3 (-1.3%). The dynamics of quotations is given from the settlement price of the previous trading day - $881.4 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Gas prices fell below $850 per 1,000 cubic meters on December 26 for the first time since February 21.

On December 19, the EU countries agreed to set the maximum exchange price for gas. It will amount to 180 euros per MWh (almost $2,000 per 1,000 cubic meters at the current exchange rate) and will come into effect on February 15.
