Criminal case launched against municipality chairman

A criminal case has been launched on a municipality chairman in Azerbaijan.

Press service of the Prosecutor General's Office told APA that Anti-Corruption Department under Prosecutor General has investigated a Jalilabad region resident’s appeal regarding the illegal actions of the municipality chairman.

The investigation revealed reasonable suspicions that abusing his power, municipality chairman Kamal Mammadov demanded AZN 20 000 for the sale of 0.04 hectares of land to Jalilabad resident and took AZN 5000 bribe. A criminal case has been launched under articles #313.3.3 (bribery) of the Criminal Code.

Investigation is underway.
