Azerbaijan’s state budget in 2022 lost about $4.4B due to benefits and exemptions

In 2022, the amount not accrued to Azerbaijan’s state budget due to the use of benefits and exemptions on taxes and customs duties stood at 7.631 billion manats ($4.488 billion), reportedfrom  the Finance Ministry.

The data is based on an assessment carried out in Azerbaijan through the centralized electronic register "On benefits in the tax and customs sphere.”

This is 17% more than the figure for 2021.

Of this, 5.852 billion manats ($3.442 billion) came from domestic operations, and 1.779 billion manats ($1.046 billion) came from import operations.

During the reporting period, the amount not accrued to the state budget in connection with benefits and exemptions applied under benefits arising from international treaties amounted to 492.5 million manats ($289.705 million) (16.5% more than on an annual basis), due to benefits of social nature – 1.891 billion manats ($1.112 billion, or 7% more), due to benefits related to the activities of legal entities - 517.5 million manats ($304.411 million, or 33.3% more), with business activities – 4.729 billion manats ($2.781 billion, or 20% more).
