Gas production from deep layers in the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) block of fields located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea can be started in early 2025, Jim O'Leary, Vice President Wells, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye region at bp Azerbaijan, told journalists.

According to him, it is planned to start the drilling of the first production well in the second half of this year within the framework of plans for the realization of gas production from deep layers in ACG.

O'Leary added that the drilling of the evaluation well was completed within the framework of the aforementioned project last year.

"For monitoring, special equipment was installed at the mouth of the well, thanks to which it was possible to obtain successful data," the representative of bp noted.

According to him, it was decided to drill a production well based on the received data.

He stressed that if the first production well is successful, the company expects to produce the first gas at the beginning of next year.
