Armenian president to meet Putin in Sochi on Aug. 9

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will visit Sochi on August 8 and meet his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, the next day, Sargsyan’s office said in a statement. 

Sargsyan “has expressed readiness to hold a trilateral meeting” with Putin and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev during the visit, according to the statement on president.am.

“The Armenian side has always been in favor of high-level meetings as it is convinced that there is no alternative to a negotiated settlement” to the Karabakh conflict, it said.

President Ilham Aliyev is also expected to visit Sochi at the end of the meeting. It is not clear yet if he is going to meet Sargsyan.
