Japanese drones to look for land mines in Ukraine

Japanese drones to look for land mines in Ukraine
17.10.2024 11:03
A Japanese industrial drone manufacturer is launching a business to use its products to detect land mines that have proliferated in Ukraine following Russia's invasion, hoping to commercialize the project in fiscal 2025, reported from Nikkei.

Nagoya-based Prodrone will work with Padeco, a Tokyo-based development consulting company, to commercialize the project.

The specified drones are capable of moving above the ground surface at a height of about 50 centimeters. The Japanese company does not possess mine detection technologies; Ukrainian partners will have to handle this aspect.

To manufacture the drones, Prodrone will receive a subsidy of $40 million, with deliveries expected to begin in 2025.
