Ukraine’s former president says presidential election will be held on October 26

Ukraine’s former president says presidential election will be held on October 26

The presidential election in Ukraine will be held on October 26, Ukraine’s former President Petro Poroshenko said, reported from TASS.

"Note this date: October 26 this year," he told the Strana media outlet, when asked when the election could be organized in Ukraine. He cited sources in Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office, law enforcement agencies, and the printing plant that is allegedly deciding how many ballot papers would be needed.

According to Poroshenko, the Central Election Commission is beginning to adjust the voter registry ahead of the election.

"I think that the election will take place at the end of the year. What is it supposed to be timed to? Parliamentary elections are to be held late in this year under the constitution, although they were to be held two years ago. And we will have local elections in late October. The authorities want to hold all these elections at the same time. But the Americans are not letting do this. And now they are arranging the whole thing so that there are no opponents," he said.

The presidential election in Ukraine was to be held in March 2024 but was canceled due to martial law.
