Azerbaijan to export significant green energy potential to Europe, Türkiye

Azerbaijan’s substantial green energy potential will be exported to Europe and Türkiye, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the 11th Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd Green Energy Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting held in Baku.
“In addition to domestic consumption, Azerbaijan’s green energy resources will be directed to international markets,” Shahbazov noted. “We are also working on establishing a green energy interconnector between Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan, with Europe as the final destination.”
The minister added that Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Georgia, and Bulgaria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate on the transmission and trade of green energy.
“These efforts go beyond just access to clean energy — they strengthen regional cooperation,” he said. “Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria are key participants, while Georgia, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan are paving the way for green energy exports.”
Shahbazov highlighted that these initiatives create opportunities for large-scale infrastructure development in the Caspian region, particularly in wind energy, equipment supply, energy trade, and project financing — offering new prospects for international companies and financial institutions.
