New Chinese ambassador arrives in Baku to begin diplomatic mission

Lu Mei, the newly appointed Chinese ambassador to Azerbaijan, arrived in Baku on April 14 to begin her diplomatic tenure, according to the Chinese Embassy.

She was welcomed at the airport by Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry officials and senior staff from the Chinese Embassy.

At the welcoming ceremony, Lu Mei described China and Azerbaijan as sincere and reliable friends, as well as equal and mutually beneficial partners. She said it was an honor to serve in Azerbaijan during a period of deepening bilateral cooperation.

The ambassador pledged to follow through on agreements reached between the two countries' leaders and to work closely with Azerbaijani society to elevate the strategic partnership.

Lu Mei succeeds Guo Min in the post.
