Heavy rain and strong winds hit Baku

Torrential rain and strong winds were reported across Baku and the Absheron on Wednesday morning, according to the National Hydrometeorological Service.

As of 06:00 local time, heavy rainfall that began around midnight intensified into a downpour accompanied by gusty winds and lightning in some areas.

In Gobustan, 33 millimeters of precipitation were recorded since 00:10, amounting to 66% of the monthly norm, a level classified as a dangerous hydrometeorological event, the agency said.

Snowfall was also reported in mountain areas including Dashkasan, Guba , Khinalig, and Gadabay.
