Azerbaijan issues weather warning, urges public to take precautions

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has issued a warning to the public about unstable weather conditions expected in several regions of the country in the coming days.
The ministry said heavy rain, thunderstorms, floods, mudslides and strong winds are forecast, and urged residents to follow safety guidelines, particularly in mountainous and foothill areas where flash floods and mudflows pose a heightened risk.
People are advised to avoid temporary structures, light constructions, billboards, power lines, and tall trees during high winds.
In the event of thunderstorms, the MES recommends disconnecting electrical devices, avoiding the use of phones, and staying away from lightning conductors, antennas, and tall metal objects. Drivers are urged to stop their vehicles, close the windows, and wait until the storm passes.
The National Hydrometeorology Service earlier reported that short-term rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected in various parts of Azerbaijan, with the risk of floods and mudslides in mountain rivers.
