Aliyev visits Nizami Gancavi monument in Rome

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited a monument to the 12th-century Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi in Rome, state news agency Azartac reported.

Aliyev laid flowers at the monument in Villa Borghese park.

The monument was erected by an order of the Azerbaijani president “On celebration of the 870th anniversary of great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Gancavi”, dated December 23 2011, according to Azartac.

Supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the monument was unveiled in April 2012 as part of a series of events marking the anniversary of Nizami Gancavi.
