Azerbaijan, Türkiye discuss expanding military education cooperation

Azerbaijan and Türkiye are exploring deeper cooperation in the field of military education, officials said on Monday following a meeting between defense university leaders from both countries.

Major General Gunduz Abdulov, rector of Azerbaijan’s National Defense University (NDU), hosted a delegation led by Professor Erhan Afyoncu, rector of Türkiye’s National Defense University, ahead of a planned high-level dialogue between the two institutions.

The sides exchanged views on ongoing initiatives, long-term plans, and mutual interests in military education. Abdulov briefed the delegation on Azerbaijan’s military education system, digital admissions process, and upcoming reforms, while Afyoncu emphasized the value of bilateral visits in strengthening ties.

At the close of the meeting, the Turkish rector signed the university’s Book of Remembrance.
