WMF World Cup knockouts kick off in Baku today

The high-stakes knockout stage of the WMF World Cup gets underway today in Baku, as the Round of 16 action begins at the National Gymnastics Arena.

According to anews, four matches are scheduled for the opening day of the playoffs.

Headlining today's fixtures is a showdown between host nation Azerbaijan, the Group A winners, and Romania, the reigning world champions and runners-up from Group B.

Round of 16 Fixtures – May 27

05:30 pm (GMT+4) – England vs. Bulgaria

07:00 pm (GMT+4) – Portugal vs. Hungary

08:30 pm (GMT+4) – Azerbaijan vs. Romania

11:00 pm (GMT+4) – France vs. Mauritania

The tournament is set to reach its dramatic conclusion on June 1, when a new (or returning) world champion will be crowned in Baku.
