Azerbaijan's national carrier AZAL and Uzbekistan’s flagship airline Uzbekistan Airways have signed a code-share agreement aimed at expanding travel options between the two countries, AZAL’s press service said on Monday.

The agreement allows both airlines to operate joint flights under their own codes, giving passengers increased flexibility when planning trips, particularly on routes between Baku and Tashkent, as well as Samarkand and Baku.

According to AZAL, travelers will now have access to nine weekly flights between Baku and Tashkent operated by both carriers, along with more convenient international connections via the hubs in both cities.

“Our partnership with Uzbekistan Airways reflects our shared commitment to expanding route networks and strengthening ties between our nations,” said Jamil Manizade, Commercial Director of Azerbaijan Airlines.

Shukhrat Yadgarov, Deputy Chairman for Commerce and Tourism at Uzbekistan Airways, said the agreement was “not only about convenience, but a symbol of friendship and openness between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.”

AZAL said the code-share deal marks an important step toward improving transport connectivity, boosting business and tourism flows, and enhancing passenger service through cooperation between the two national airlines.
