Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has warned the public against swimming in unauthorized bodies of water such as canals, rivers, ditches, and artificial lakes.

According to the ministry, seven people, including children and teenagers, have died in the past two weeks after entering such unsafe areas.

“These waters often have strong currents, unknown depths, underwater hazards, and poor visibility, posing serious risks to life and health,” the statement said.

The MES called on parents to supervise their children and adhere strictly to safety rules.
